These ear cushions were purchased to replace ones my dog ate. Really.

They are much more comfortable than the originals were (those were foam -yuck!), and while harder to put on the earphones than foam ones, they are no harder to put on than any other of their type (vinyl).

The only complaint I have is that they are not really leather - they're vinyl, so they're not actually porous and don't actually wick perspiration away. They don't make your ears really sweaty after all-day use, but the product title does say LEATHER.

I can wear the AKG for whole day but I can not wear this 85 for 5 minutes. The hard frame just touches the top left and top right corners of my head, making me feel uncomfortable. After trying for several positions, I know that it is just not fit. I throw it away, without any willing to try to listen to the sound.

They said it is for Apple. Only the color looks like. Not the structure design.

Plantronics CS50 900 MHz Wireless Office Headset System

Workmanship is top notch. It works first time, easy to put in the cradle, comes with many different earpieces. But this and the CS55 have the same problem: tinny Plantronics sound. Better get the Jabra GN9350e instead, which has significantly better, more natural sound quality when you speak. Also, the earphone on the Plantronics is MUCH worse than the Jabra. CS50/55 both work well with Skype, as does the Jabra. But both perform much worse with Teamspeak. Probably a Teamspeak issue; wired headsets will give much better quality with TS.

Plantronics H81 H81 Tristar Voice Tube

I've been using a tri-star headset at home for several years. I like it so much that now I'm buying a second one to use at work. If you don't like the idea of having a bulky headset or a band that goes across the top of your head, then this headset is perfect for you. It fits right over your ear and is very comfortable, even for those long conference calls.

Voice pickup and sound quality is top-notch. You will need an amplifier of some sort. I've been able to get mine to work with a Cisco IP phone and a Polycom phone with simple adapter cables, so check your phone first to see if it has headset support built in.

Plantronics MX505 FOR USE WITH ( MX500C )

We bought and returned 4 different phone headsets before we finally found the MX500C. We started with one of those bluetooth earpieces with the microphone right next to your ear. The problem with those is that the microphone is too far from the mouth to pick up your voice without also picking up all the annoying background noise. It also cuts in and out all the time. Most people only care what their earpiece sounds in their own ear, but nobody tells them that they sound terrible on the other end. The MX500C is great because the microphone comes down right by your mouth. It has a wind screen to cut down on wind or A/C noise in your car. It fits on different sized ears and is very comfortable to wear. The only drawback is that it's not wireless, we can sacrifice having a wire for comfort and sound quality.

I've owned and used a Mirage headset for over a decade. Other than the cable simply wearing out through use and abuse, I've had no problems. I originally got this when I was spending 6-8 hours a day on the phone. This was the unit recommended to me, and I found it to be exactly as described. It's comfortable enough that I find myself wearing it for hours on end, even when I'm not on the phone anymore. I've never had problems with volume or clarity, nor have others on the other end.

As with most professional headsets, this uses a special plug, so you can't connect it with just any phone. Most phones will require the use of an adapter cable or an amplifier. The plug allows you to disconnect the headset (say to get something off the printer or fax machine) without disconnecting the call - it's the equivalent of putting the phone on mute. While this may not seem like much, it's much more convenient than taking the headset off and then putting it back on.

It works well with any of the Plantronics amplifiers, but its even more convenient if you find the phone-specific cord that allows you to connect it directly to the phone without an amplifier. On the Avaya phones at work, they have a separate jack and button on the phone for a headset which makes this headset fully integrated.

If you spend a lot of time on the phone, this is one investment well worth it.

Plantronics Audio 480 Virtual Phone Booth Earbuds

Pros:

1. Fairly good build quality;
2. clean sound;
3. light and portable;
4. comes with a USB sound card;
5. quite effective sound insulation;
6. short and light cable suitable for laptop;
7. in-line volume and mic control.
8. a nice travel case.

Cons:

1. Very uncomfortable to wear. The ear tab must be properly placed to stabilize the thing, but when it's placed stably, it is quite uncomfortable to wear. To me, 15 minutes was too long. I have a Plantronics MX510 which can be worn for hours without noticeable discomfort.

2. The soft cover (white) over the earbuds can easily fall off and get lost. I used other microphones that have a similar design and know it will happen. If you use it frequently and you're not a super organized and careful person, I'd be surprised that you still have that earbud cover after several months of use. Once you lose the cover, the whole thing becomes useless because it cannot be stabilized on your ear.

3. The microphone isn't a sensitive type. The input volume is quite low. But on the positive side, the sound is pretty clean, especially when it's used with a USB sound card that comes with the headset.

4. The idea of sound insulation really does not go very well with a microphone. It's great for listening only, but it feels awful when you speak to microphone when the your ear canal is blocked by the earbud. If you have experienced ear discomfort during airplane takeoff or landing, you get the idea how this microphone feels when you listen and speak at the same time. But this is not a problem of this model in particular, but rather a common problem for this type of design. You may get used to it, but I can't.

5. You'd need an extension cord if you want to use it with a desktop. But this is no fault of the headset itself, because it is designed for laptops, and for which purpose the short cord is actually a benefit.

6. Too expensive. Amazon has it for about $60. I think $20-$30 would be fair for a product like this.

Plantronics Voyager 510Sl Voyager Bluetooth Headset System with Automatic Lifter and AC/DC Charger

In my business my employees and I need to have cordless phones. I purchased the RCA system that is available here (with cordless units that need to link to the base units). After replacing all the cordless units multiple times with tech-support over a year and then having the warranty expire I felt the need to find another more reliable system. I found the Panasonic 4 line system with cordless handsets, but the reviews reminded me of my problems with RCA....so no go.

I splurged and bought a true business system from ESI. Awesome and it does more than we ever thought we could have.....except for the cordless handsets. At $500.00 a crack we could not afford the digital cordless units.

But then I find the Plantronic Voyager 510. With the HL-10 lifter it works with my ESI desk phone. I am cordless and HANDSFREE TOO! I can walk around my store with no loss of signal. I expected the 30 ft coverable would be marginal, but I am sure I am getting at least 40 ft of coverage.

Many of my customers insist on calling me on my cell phone and others call into the store. No problem with my Voyager. Regardless of which system they are calling me on....just click the button on the headset and we are connected. No switching from a cordless phone to my cell phone.

I can not recommend this product more highly. No product has been so easy to install, get up and running, AND provide exactly what was advertised. When it comes to tech products that is a rarity.

I use this headset with the T10H Phone for my work with liveOps. So far I haven't had any problems with it. I really like the flexibility of being able to turn the ear pieces anyway I want it and it seems to fit better than my other headsets.

The sound quality is nice but I wish it had a mute switch/volume control. I really hate the quick disconnect cord. It seems like Plantronics made it this way so that the headset would only be compatible with Plantronics quick disconnect phones.

Note: You can buy a Quick Disconnect to 2.5mm cable separately if you want to use this headset with another phone. Amazon sells those as well.

Plantronics .Audio 645 USB Behind the Head Headset

Because of the sound quality for both the headphones and the mic, plus the convenient volume control, I will buy a new pair if I cannot repair my last pair. The first incident involved the entire left earpiece falling off and hanging by their wires. I found no way to put it back together so I had to superglue it back on instead. I had no further problems for a year when the mic quit working. I opened it up and found one of the two mic wires pulled free from the solder joint. What happens is if you rotate the mic boom completely around the mic wires get wrapped around the post that connects the boom to the headset, rotate too far and they will break. This is a design flaw in that you should be prevented from being able to do this. However that break didnt happen until 1.5 years of owning it and I had easily put 500+ hours of usage into them. Also if using the USB connection instead of the analog one, you will need to use a "boost mic gain" option in the software if available. Im an avid gamer and when using USB had to boost the gain, didnt have to when using analog...boosting on analog caused too much distortion. Although when using USB I was told the sound was clearer, jsut harder to hear when it wasnt boosted....not all software has a gain boosting feature.

BTW i used these right away out of box either USB or analog without any problems on Windows XP 64. I have not tried them on any other version but hear they work with Vista 32 and 64.

Plantronics GameCom 367 Closed-Ear Gaming Headset

In many ways, the GameCom 367 headset was the best thing I could buy. And it was, when it arrived in the mail. Unfortunately, I was extremely dissatisfied with eFunctional in delivering the data to FedEx that I wanted my item shipped out. I chose 2-day shipping, at about 1:00pm on a wednesday. Turns out, they only told FedEx they had a package for them at 9:00am the next day. So what good was my two-day shipping? The package arrives on Monday the next week, because FedEx apparently takes weekends off. $24!!! 24!!! That's how much I spent to get a package that would have arrived by UPS on Monday! FedEx, it appears, was probably doing their job. But eFunctional certainly wasn't. I paid a boatload of extra money just to get this headset at the same time I normally would have. And there are few things more dissatisfying than knowing you paid what probably amounts to an extra $15-$20 for nothing, all because some company decided your 2-day order request could wait for 20 whole hours! It was 1pm! Sure, if it was like, you know, 5pm or something yeah I can understand that. Makes sense, after all. Ordering something when the workers aren't there at normal working hours means waiting until the next day. But this was ludicrous. I lost a ton of money because of this. I would buy this again, if only for the product price, but I would never buy an expressed shipment from these guys. Seriously, if you want it cheap and don't care when you get it, go here. But if you want it fast, try one of the other GameCom offers. It's hard to believe another company could be any slower than this one.

Plantronics GameCom Open-Ear Gaming Headset with Full Range Stereo

The most notable plus is that the sound quality is plain awesome. I'm very critical of lows and highs (not so much on mids), so this headset sits well with me. Another big plus is the build quality; the grade of plastic is very dense, in contrast to many other headphones that I have owned before, which we more on the tackier side. The larger volume dial is a bit larger and in a good position, making it easier to find without looking (helpful when engaged in a game).

People with larger heads may find this a bit uncomfortable though (my hat size is about 8.5), since the over the head piece is pretty rigid and in general a bit narrow.

I purchased this item based on the description, which states "Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset Carrying Case." First of all, this is an OEM item, in which you may be able to stuff the headset in. Maybe not. Certainly not designed for the headset, whatsoever. My problem was reading the title of the item and assuming that it: 1) was made my Plantronics, 2) was for a Plantronics Voyager 510, and 3) could serve as a carrying case for such an item.

I am very disappointed. I shall start to consider alternative uses. Like for small scraps of paper, USB sticks, and so on.

Plantronics M220C Mobile Headset for Cordless Phones

I purchased this headset as my first one, and happened to luck out, I think. Clarity and loudness is fine for both me and the other party (headset is connected to Panasonic cordless phone). It is also lightweight and comfortable -- longest call made so far has been close to two hours, during which I experienced no discomfort.

The microphone enhancing switch is set to "Low" or "Off" for me -- when turned on, the other party complained of echos, so I turned it off and have since left it there.

Plantronics .Audio 655 USB Multimedia Headset

I recently ordered the .Audio 655 to replace my old Plantronics DSP 500, which I absolutely loved (for about 5 years until the mic stopped working). I was hesitant to buy a headset that had no reviews, but so far I am very pleased.

I use Skype regularly and everyone says the sound quality of my mic is superb (although they said the same with the DSP 500). The mic itself is attached to a stiff piece of plastic that swivels very smoothly (I don't anticipate it loosening any).

The USB cable is pretty thin, although plenty long. I feel like I need to be cautious with it around my kitten.

The buttons on the headset work nicely, although I preferred the DSP 500's method of having the volume controls located along the USB cable. Also, there is a blue light on the left earphone in the center of the audio controls. This light appears to be on at all times.

I have two complaints about the headset so far:
- My ears are slightly too large for ear cushions. I would rate my ears as slightly larger than normal (but not by much). Initially putting the headset on, it is extremely comfortable, but after about 20 minutes of use it becomes a little uncomfortable (this is a very mild uncomfortability).
- The headset has no drivers, and Windows XP recognizes it as "Generic USB Audio Device" whereas my old DSP was registered as a "Plantronics Headset". This may not be important to most people, but I have a lot of audio devices attached to my computer (my old DSP, a Skype phone, webcam mic, speakers, and now this headset). All of my other sound devices are appropriately named; it's a shame my newest toy is not. Again, this is a very minor complaint.

The headset is lightweight, comfortable, and with a great sound quality. There are days when I am on a series of conference calls and I wear it all day. You can flip it around to wear it on either ear.

I used to have a less expensive ($10~) Panasonic headset that was excellent but not so durable--the part where the cord connects to the phone would tend to get loose (or something happened in the mysterious inner workings) and the headset would make a static noise if I moved the phone at all--I had to keep the phone perfectly still. I decided it was time for an upgrade.

I've only had this headset for 6 weeks but it seems to be holding up well. It's built more durably and I don't think it will suffer the fate that the Panasonic did. I can't really comment on the noise canceling feature because I work in a quiet location. I would recommend this headset for anyone who needs a hard-working, easy-wearing headset and is willing to pay the extra that will cost.

Plantronics Headset for S10 T10 & T20

My work has me on long telcons but won't pay for headsets. Not wanting to shell out for the full system, I thought that since the S10 headset has a RJ11 plug, I could just swap out the handset on the phone for the headset and not bother with buying the full system. It worked...kind of.

The good: the headset was comfortable and I could hear just as well as if using the handset. It also allowed me to type on the computer, take notes, or whatever without getting a neck ache from squeezing the handset between my head and shoulder.

The bad: The mike boom only extended down to my cheek and wasn't very close to my mouth so I got people on the other end saying I was coming in soft and I had to talk louder (which then started to annoyed my office mates). I guess that's why you need the amp unit (I'm speculating that the amp is for both input/output). Additionally, since I swapped out the handset but still needed the disconnected handset to hang up the phone my phone calls were 1) slip headset on if it wasn't already on, 2) pick up the handset, 3) have phone conversation, 4) hand up handset, 5) take of headset if I was leaving desk. I'm a get up and walk around type of guy so I'm constantly putting on and taking off the headset. Also, at first, there was a few times I picked up the disconnected handset and started to answer the call, but I quickly got over than problem.

In the end, I decided that I like the headset concept and needed to buy the whole system (the S12 or S22 replaced/is replacing the S10). The S12 headset's boom is longer so it's closer to the mouth and since you plug the handset into the amp unit, you can easily switch between the two w/out having to unplug anything. Still, if you going on the cheap, this may be the solution for you.

I was looking for a headset with microphone to use with Dragon Naturally Speaking. Dragon's website listed a previous version of this headset as being compatible with their software. After several calls with Dragon and Plantronics, I determined this headset met and exceeded the requirements needed for Dragon Naturally Speaking. I'm using it right now. With my previous headset, Dragon Naturally Speaking, did not properly recognize what I said. With this headset I have not had any problem. The sound quality is outstanding. The headset is comfortable to wear and does not apply to lot of pressure to your ears. Both connection types work well. The headset also folds to a size that will fit in your briefcase. The microphone boom is one half rigid and one half flexible.

I bought this headset based on positive reviews posted here. For me, it is one of the worst headsets I have ever owned. It comes with three ear tips, none of which fit my ears well at all. Because leaving it in my ear was chancy at best, I used the provided over-ear clip. It's a total disaster. The clip mounts over the post used to hold the ear tip. Any pressure applied to the headset, such as removing it from an ear, often results in the clip forcing the ear tip free. It is no fun trying to retrieve the components in an automobile or anywhere else.

Avoid this badly engineered product.

I've tried other bluetooth solutions and none worked this well.

I have all the features I need....

* Double click the button you get redial
* Single click to answer a call
* Click and hold for 2 seconds to drop or ignore a call
* Volume up/down from the headset possible also.

All this happens from one button too - it's a multi-function button.

Great part is all my calls are of good quality.

Charge time is small also, the unit was fully charged within 20 mins. (don't know whats the standby/talk time yet as I only collected yesterday).

It's pretty comfortable to wear, the fitted ear piece (around your ear) can be turned around for left-ear/right-ear wearing.

All pros for me only con would be the bright blue led that flashes - makes you look like a cyborg :D other than that I love this unit!

I bought this because it is supposed to work with two phones. So far, I have been so unhappy with this bluetooth headset that I have not taken time to explore its options. The charge barely lasts 8 hours. In addition, the charging device is cumbersome. The ear piece sometimes falls off. All in all, I feel like I wasted my money. This is unusual for a plantronics bluetooth headset. I have owned several. All but this one were reliable.

Plantronics Hl10 Handset Lifter

I've been using a wireless Plantronics headset (CS50) for several years now and frequently found myself walking around when a call came in or when a call was ending and had to rush back to my desk to answer or hang-up the call. Finally got around to ordering this.

I got the package, opened it up and installed in seconds (self-stick adhesive strips attach it to the phone under the handset and one wire plugs into my headset). Works great no matter where I am in the house (as long as my headset works). Simply press the button to turn on the headset and the handset is lifted. Pressing the button again to turn off the headset and the handset is dropped, hanging up the call.

Added benefit: I don't need to find a location to put the handset when I'm on a call (not much room on my cluttered desk :-)).

Well worth the expense.

Plantronics .Audio 995 Wireless Stereo Headset

Lots of reviews out there, but mine is a bit more objective due to the testing I have done.

Probably, like you, I was in the market for a headset to use with speech recognition, Skype, music playback from iTunes, etc. But I wanted to cut the cord on my Logitech USB headset. So a few months ago I went out and purchased the Logitech ClearChat Wireless headset. Between this latter headset and the Plantronics 995, there really is not much else on the market as far as non-bluetooth wireless headsets go. These headsets use a USB 2.4 GHz transceiver. This is much better than bluetooth, which constantly needs pairing and has sub-par performance when used with speech recognition, VOIP, etc. due to low bandwidth.

Testing and using the Logitech ClearChat Wireless headset, I was pretty impressed. It worked with Dragon Naturally Speaking/MacSpeech Dictate, as well as with Skype.

However, what I did not like about the Logitech ClearChat headset was that the ear muffs were too small (many complain about it) and there was constant static whilst speaking to someone on Skype (Skype to phone calls). Additionally, the more you move around with the ClearChat, the more static there is, and the range was acceptable but not great. To make my testing objective, I was switching, on the Skype call, between the USB headset and the wireless ClearChat one. The static was only present with the ClearChat headset and not with the USB headset.

So, having read all the great reviews about the 995 Plantronics, I went down to the store, exchanged my ClearChat for a pair. I then phoned from Skype to a telephone (same person) and tested the reception again. This time, there was hardly any static at all (user feedback): their comment was that it was "much improved" from the previous wireless headset. I also got better range with the Plantronics as well.

In addition, the speech recognition seems to work a bit better too, and is actually working amazingly. Seems even better than my USB headset.

Furthermore, I tested some iTunes playback and no question the Plantronics has fuller, deeper, richer sound than the Logitech ClearChat headset.

The only thing I like better about the ClearChat headset is that you can quickly switch the headset off when you don't want it to be connected to the receiver.

With the Plantronics, you can quickly switch it on and off too, with auto-pairing (nice), but there is only one button, not a switch, which needs to be held down for 2 seconds to turn the unit off or on. The only issue is, unless the unit is off your head, you won't be able to see the solid blue light turn to red then off. So if you want to shut it off and leave it on your head, it is not possible to get confirmation from the headset that it is off. However, you will see the blue light flash on the receiver, from solid blue, and that is confirmation you have turned off your headset. But it also indicates the headset is out of range, so the only way to really no for sure that your headset is turned off is to remove them from your head and look to see if the light is off on the side.

Thus, the ClearChat's simple on/off switch is superior in this regard, where you can turn the unit off without the need to remove it from your head for confirmation. At any rate, this is sort of minor because most times you can be confident that a flashing blue light on the receiver indicates you have successfully turned off the headset, so you won't be needing to remove it.

And I like to power down the unit frequently to save on battery life...

As for battery life, I think the Plantronics is better than the ClearChat as well, and both demand roughly the same charging times. Of note, when you first get the unit, charging it may be a bit quirky. You should calibrate the battery (the ClearChat headset took 2 days before it was fully charged, for instance).

Other than that, do yourself a favor and get the Plantronics wireless headset. It is truly liberating to have the cords cut, and it works extremely well with speech recognition.

4.5 out of 5 stars, because of the on/off procedure and paltry instructions that do not explain how to turn the unit on/off. In addition, nothing is perfect. But a 4.5 out of 5 star rating for me is a huge compliment to anyone. I am very critical of everything, and demand a lot from my computing products. Plantronics: well done.

Remember, hold down the power button on the headset for 2 seconds ONLY to turn it on or off.

Plantronics Cordless Headset Phone (CT14)

I work from home and spend at least 6 hours a day on conference calls. I couldn't work without my Plantronics cordless headset phone. I recently replaced my several year old CT12 model due to frustrations with battery life. Even with replacement batteries in the CT12 they just weren't lasting. The CT14 does everything my CT12 did while giving me longer talk time. No more battery failure mid conference call. My only complaint is they moved the mute button and it took me about 3 days to get used to the new location. Highly recommended product for those who spend a lot of time on the phone and don't want to be tied to their desk.

I have had this product before, and it always worked well with my Uniden cordless phone. That is why I had high expectations for this headset, however, this particular item did not work well from the day I got it. I was able to hear the caller clearly through the headset, however, callers complained of significant background noice (e.g. sounds like rushing water) when I spoke to them. I contacted Plantronics, and the representative was able to hear the problem over the telephone. She instructed me to return the headset, and they would replace it overnight, however, I had to pay shipping for the return. I am not satisfied, as this added to the cost of the headset which was defective when I received it. I sent it back last week and have not yet received the replacement, so I cannot comment on that quality. (I have to repeat, however, that I have been satisfied with this product in the past.)

This product is an excellent telephone system device that is flexible to fit around my ears, and I can have the microphone or mouthpiece close to my mouth. As others have noted, there is a hiss / buzzing sound on the handset, voice sounds very tinny as well, not what you'd expect for a $200 phone!

The biggest disappointment was that this phone is NOT a true "VoIP" phone... it has a USB connection where it simply acts as an intelligent headset for your computer (Skype, Cisco VoIP client, etc). You CAN NOT plug this into your network and have it do VoIP on it's own. To me, this needs to be clarified on the package... I expected to network it and give it my SIP registration info, nope.

Due to these two issues, we may be returning the product. It's more of a cute toy then a business device.

Plantronics S12 Corded Telephone Headset System

In an effort to arrange an inexpensive dedicated business telephone line solution with a hands-free headset I purchased the magicJack and the Plantronics S12. Although the magicJack works great with other analog telephone devices, and the Plantronics S12 works great with other analog lines/services, it would appear that the magicJack together with the Plantronics S12 does not work. I thoroughly tested all 6 modes, the 2 TX amplification settings, the two volume slides, the mute button, all of the cables. Upon speaking with the Plantronics support line, upon concluding our troubleshooting, they advised that the S12 only works with traditional analog telephone lines and not analog-to-Internet conversion solutions like the magicJack. On the surface and given the other reviews it seems that the S12 is a great product, but does not work with the magicJack telephone service.

This headset has good sound quality - the best bluetooth I have owned. It generally makes up for the less than quality sound of my Blackberry phone - most people can hear me better than when talking directly on the phone. Rarely do I get any cutting out.
